G5 Assembly Instructions
Thank you for purchasing your G5 Ferris Cat Exercise Wheel. Following these instructions will help ensure your wheel is assembled safely and performs at its best.
Before You Begin
Read all instructions and watch the video
Please read both the instructions below and the manufacturer’s instructions included in the box. We also recommend watching the assembly video on this page before you begin.
Ask for help if needed
If you are not confident with DIY or assembling furniture, we recommend asking a friend or family member who is experienced to help.
Introducing your cat to the wheel
If your cat has never used a cat exercise wheel before, please do not pick them up and place them on the wheel. This can frighten your cat and create a negative association with the wheel.
We’ve also included a Training Guide with your wheel. We strongly recommend reading this before assembly, as it contains helpful advice on introducing your cat to the wheel and highlights a few common mistakes to avoid.
If you have any questions at any stage, please contact us at FantasticCatsUK@gmail.com. We’re always happy to help.
Assembly
Your wheel includes the manufacturer’s printed instructions, but most customers find assembly straightforward by following the assembly videos together with the written instructions.
Base Assembly Tips
Tightening the base bolts
One step not shown in the video is that the bolts securing the base legs should be tightened using two Allen keys turned in opposite directions. This allows the bolts to be fully tightened. Hand-tightening alone is not sufficient and may allow the bolts to loosen over time.
Fitting the base bars
If you find it difficult to fully insert the metal bars into the base legs using a rubber mallet, apply a small amount of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to the ends of the bars before inserting them. This will allow them to slide into position much more easily.
Important: Do not use the wheel until the locking bolts have been fitted through the base to securely lock the bars in place.
Wheel Assembly Tips
Connecting the wheel sections
When assembling the white wheel sections, ensure they are all connected in the same orientation—male connector to female connector throughout.
Do not connect female-to-female, or you will be left with two sections that cannot be joined.
Fitting the traction pads
The coloured EVA traction pads are not square.
Fit each pad with the longer side running in the direction of the wheel. Position each pad centrally on the white wheel section, leaving approximately 5 mm (0.5 cm) of white plastic visible on both sides. This ensures you have enough pads to complete the wheel correctly.
After Assembly
When assembled correctly, the wheel should spin freely and smoothly, producing only a gentle “whooshing” sound.
If the wheel does not spin smoothly, or if you have any concerns during assembly, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
Although the latest G5 model is fitted with locknuts, we recommend checking all nuts and bolts periodically, including the bolts that secure the base legs, to ensure everything remains tight and secure.
Safety Advice
- Always supervise kittens when using the wheel.
- We do not recommend allowing small kittens and adult cats to use the wheel together. An adult cat can accelerate the wheel before a kitten has time to step off safely.
Keep Your Tools
Please keep the Allen keys and any tools supplied with the wheel. You’ll need them for occasional maintenance checks and to ensure all bolts remain securely tightened.
If you ever sell or pass your Ferris Cat Exercise Wheel to a new owner, please include the tools and our contact details. Regular maintenance is important for safe operation, and we’re always happy to provide ongoing support.
Thank you for choosing a Ferris Cat Exercise Wheel. We hope your cats enjoy many years of safe, healthy and…
HAPPY WHEELING!
